After a lifetime making salt-glazed functional ware, I moved from stoneware clay and salt firings to explore the malleable and delicate qualities of paperclays and electric kiln earthenware firings. Following on from that I began exploring a new creative direction using the medium of silver metalclay, making jewellery and small 3D items. The putty-like material is rolled out into thin sheets which can be textured, shaped, modelled and assembled. When fired in a small kiln it is transformed into pure fine silver. My designs, as always, reflect the wealth of textures and patterns found in the natural world. The forms develop as I draw in my sketch book and each piece is individually handmade.
