Tim Thornton
I am a ceramicist based just outside of Hereford. I create a variety of work, both functional and sculptural, using whichever techniques are most suited to obtaining the desired result - I'm not one of those potters who finds their style and then just sticks with it. I hand build and throw, generally use glazes that I have developed myself, and use an electric kiln or wood fire.
I have a background in science and engineering, and this is reflected in my approach to making, as well as being the driver to researching the technical aspects of ceramics.
I pass on my technical skills by teaching a number of online courses:
Garden pot with wood ash glaze
Lidded vessel
Tea bowl, wood fired
