Richard Morris
Exploring the diversity of simple thrown forms dictates most of my ceramics development. Bowls and vases form much of my output and I love small feet with stability being a secondary consideration. Gertrud and Otto Natzlers work is particularly inspiring.
My work is fired between Cone 6 and Cone 10 using a range of stoneware, porcelain and wild clays. The glazes I use are often from materials inherited and of unknown composition, so I suffer a lot of unexpected results. I use an electric kiln mainly for bisque firing and oxidation, and a gas kiln for reduction.
My work is exhibited (eg Glasfryn Gallery) and I welcome visitors to my studio in Nantglyn, near Denbigh by appointment.
