Widge Thorpe
One session of evening class and I was hooked on clay. Twenty years later I have the opportunity to indulge my habit to the full and can follow up process, method and style as they catch my fancy. A favourite is white slip on red clay, mainly floral patterns cut through with a needle and coloured with underglazes. Medieval pottery is also an interest, especially if it involves slip or sprigs. I love the practicality of stoneware for functional pieces like mugs and jugs. And then there is the wonder of porcelain not to mention paper clay and raku. So many things to try with never enough time.
See me and my work at Pig Street Collective in the Queen's Hall, Narberth (check their website for 2019 dates), or at Whitland Produce Market in the Memorial Hall, second Saturday of every month.
