Jane Spray

I live in the Forest of Dean, teach ceramics locally and enjoy engaging with clay. I make work in response to nature and to the landscape. Most of my work is hand built, usually coiled. Two main sorts of work Low fired, hand built, smoked and burnished work, using sawdust, saggars, or pit firing. After a residency with master potter and tea bowl maker Tozan Wada of Kotoura-gama, Amagasaki, Japan, Raku tea bowls are also being made. Higher fired pots and sculptures, for garden and other outdoor use. These include landscape pots using different coloured clays and stains to reflect a particular landscape setting or site, and other specially commissioned fountains, pots or sculptures enquiries welcome. I also make some wheel thrown dishes for domestic use (not shown here).
