Jane Blair

I use a red earthenware clay and highlight the relief and texture of the pieces with slips. These are fired to 1100 deg C in a gas kiln. Before I begin working with the clay I will sketch and make notes, often inspired when walking my dog in the countryside where I live. Using my imagination and making more drawings ideas for my sculptural pieces evolve. Quirkiness, humour and fun seems to emerge in my work. If I can make someone smile that's great! My work can be found at the Frogmore Street Gallery. I also run pottery classes in Usk for adults and children.
