Carole Spackman

My bird and animal sculptures are the result of over sixty years of observing and drawing wildlife and almost fifty years of making ceramics. A study of the relationships of animals to each other and to their differing environments, their movements and varying plumage for each season influences my work; while each kiln firing spurs me on to refine technique and ideas.

My very usable tableware is dishwasher proof, either decorated with an impressionist style of meadow flowers or echoing the local stone structures.

My sculptural work, for which I also offer whole or half day workshops, features the characteristics of the native bird & wild life. Each stoneware piece is fired to a high temperature, making it frost-proof, suitable for use either outside in the garden or as sculpture indoors.

I have exhibited in many galleries in Wales, including Oriel Cric, Crickhowell, the Glyn Vivian, Swansea, Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecknock Museum and Newport Museum, while further afield my previous tableware design was sold in Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason.
