Anne James

I trained in Ceramics and Printed textiles at Belfast college of art and set up my first workshop in1976 At that time I made functional pots in high fired stoneware, which was the main focus of my training. Then for a long time I made small decorative pieces in porcelain, and moved on to Raku, made with porcelain burnished, lustred and smoke fired . Very recently I started to develop some new work in high fired stoneware and porcelain, coiled and thrown incorporating colours into the clay body, firing at about 1260c. This is still an on going process encountering technical problems on the way! This work is based on a lifelong love of sea, coast, edges, estuaries and colour. Member of Craft Potters Association.
