I make functional, decorative hand-thrown stoneware pots from my studio – Wainfield Pottery.
My big influences have been the pottery of ancient China and Japan.
At present I use white slip as a decorative device and colour my work with oxides and apply transparent, red and/or celadon glazes – but I am still experimenting with other techniques.
I learnt the basics of pottery at secondary school and continued to at college evening classes until, in 2006, I built my own studio.
