My personal work is abstract.
The source may be clear: a bird of prey, a landscape. All the forms originate intuitively in reaction to a place, event or mood with music acting as a guide.
Sketches are developed, themes are identified and brought forward using specific music to capture the sense of the piece.
Recurrent themes in my work include:
Moving from childhood to maturity to mortality.
Sorting out and coming to terms with one's priorities, and version of reality - as opposed to what other people want you to be - then managing that conflict and facing change.
Daring to spread one's wings, in order to fly free or to offer shelter to another.
Describing the warmth and vulnerability one feels when holding a baby, animal, or weakened friend.
Forms playing with the mysteries - hidden space, the new idea just out of reach, the safe calm at the back of your mind, the fine line between isolation and solitude.
