I am a ceramic sculptor, and I specialise in figurative pieces
I particularly like to make figures in everyday situations, and frequently use family photographs for inspiration.
If appropriate, I take extensive measurements from the subject itself. Each piece is individually hand built and therefore unique.
I use two types of clay, one which fires to an off white, the other to a pale terracotta.
Light staining is used to enhance surface detail, followed by a matt acrylic finish. This method retains the overall colour and texture of the clay.
The pieces shown are about 20 to 70 cm high.
