Marie Davies, BA [Hons] Ceramics Ceramic Artist Graduated UWIC, Summer 2006
I create vessels which explore the notion of ‘Energy’. The power of water and its’ impact on our landscape inspired the initial ideas for this body of work. My vessels have the power as containers to envelope and consolidate the energy which they epitomize. The energy is produced as a result of the force involved in pulling twisted wires through the clay to create the undulating surface.
My vessels are slip cast in white earthenware, sprayed with terra sigillata, and finished by wax polishing.
Since graduating I have exhibited at New Designers, London, June /July 2006 and also Brecknock Museum and Art Gallery, Brecon, Nov. 18 2006-Jan. 20. 2007
