Jonathan Cox

Jonathan Cox produces colourful and varied ceramics from his studio in West Wales, where he uses an unusual technique known as "tubelining". Many of his pieces feature wild or garden flowers which are worked from actual studies in order to confer botanical accuracy.

His designs evoke the sentiments many of us currently feel towards nature, namely a nostalgia for a countryside of the past, be it flower filled summer meadows or cornfields turned red with scarlet poppies.

In complete contrast is an intriguing new range of "facepots" that owe their inspiration to the visual language of modern art.

Jonathan lived in Stoke-on-Trent for many years, gaining a B.A Hons degree in Art and Design in 1983.

He moved to Wales in 1996 with his French wife and young daughter. He originally trained as a gardener and at various times draws and paints the flowers and landscape around his home.
