My work is inspired by natural forms such as seed pods.
I work in porcelain paper clay, which means that the finished pieces are very light-weight, even those as large as 30cm tall. Pit-firing, using organic materials such as banana skins and seaweed, imparts soft delicate colours to my work. The pieces are finished by waxing giving them a light sheen and preserving their colour.
I originally trained and worked as a teacher. When I took early retirement I was able to fulfill my ambition to study ceramics, obtaining my degree from Swansea Institute of Higher Education.
